Franziska Lutze - Blaudruck

5th July - 2nd November, 2024
Exhibition of textile works. Prices in-store or on request.

The artist and designer Franziska Lutze lives and works in Berlin. For her textile works she uses a historical, traditional dyeing technique, called blue printing (Blaudruck in German). Franziska collaborates with the oldest blue printing company in Europe, which has existed in Einbeck since 1638. She reinterprets this dyeing technique, which has been part of the Unesco World Heritage since 2018, in her own way and only uses natural textiles such as cotton or linen. In contrast to the floral and folkloristic patterns of traditional blue printing, Franziska´s work focuses on clear and minimal shapes. She arranges these into geometric compositions. Her artistic process is intuitive and handcrafted. The individual pieces shine in UV-true (predominantly) primary colours.

All pieces seen in this exhibition are printed and dyed twice, which is unusual in conventional blue printing. Franziska also does custom-made works on request
